The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis wrote The Chronicles of Narnia for children. There are seven books in the series. The first one is "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe".

Four Pevensie children are evacuated from London due to World War II. They are sent to live with Professor Digory Kirke. While playing hide and seek, one of them, Lucy discovers a mysterious wardrobe. She finds herself in a snow-covered forest with a lamp post in the centre.

She meets a faun, who names is Tumnus. He tells her the land is called Narnia which is ruled by a ruthless White Witch. So Narnia is always winter but never Christmas. Later Lucy returns to the world and reenter Narnia. She brings Edmund along. He meets the White Witch who introduces herself as the Queen of Narnia. She offers him Turkish delight and promises him that she will make him King of Narnia eventually if he bring the other children to her house...



This fantasy children novel is adapted in radio play and films too.
